Baby Gorilla Is a Year Old

western lowland gorilla baby and motherThe National Zoo's female baby western lowland gorilla turned a year old on January 10!

On her birthday, she and other gorillas got some special treats in their decorated enclosures, as well as something to unwrap. Thanks to all the visitors who came by to joinin the celebration.

Named Kibibi ("little lady" in Swahili) by a public vote, she is one of seven gorillas that live at the Great Ape House. Visitors can see them every day between 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
